YOU CAN’T LIFT YOUR FOOT

In the room you’re in right now there’s a spot in which you won’t be able to lift your foot. No one will hold you down or touch your foot or any other part of you. You won’t be glued down – but you still won’t be able to lift your foot off the ground.

Stand with your head, shoulder, side and heel tight against the wall. Then try to lift your outside leg without moving any part of your body away from the wall. It can’t be done no matter how strong you are. Moving that foot throws you off balance and your body automatically moves away from the wall to keep you from falling down.

YOU CAN’T OUTSMART YOUR FOOT

    1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor
       and make clockwise circles with it.
    2. Now, while doing this, draw the number “6” in the air with
        your right hand. Your foot will change direction!

YOU CAN’T OPEN YOUR FINGERS

Once you put your fingertips together—in a certain position—you won’t be able to move them apart. Hard to believe?

Bend your fingers and put your hands together so that your fingers meet, as in the Illustration.

Move out your third fingers (the tall ones) on each hand, so that they point up and lean against each other. Get the rest of your fingers tightly joined again, as in the illustration below.

Now try to separate your third fingers—without separating any of the others. Can’t be done!
