MATERIALS … Four wooden cubes / construction paper / glue / fingerprint ink
Leave shaded areas blank.
A. Select a color. Use the diagram to color the 6 A squares.
B. Select a color. Use the diagram to color the 5 B squares.
C. Select a color. Use the diagram to color the 6 C squares.
ADDING A CREATIVE TOUCH
Cut small squares of colored construction paper to draw/paste on appropriate squares (A B C).
A. Select 6 thumbprint critters or 6 smiley icons. Create the critters/icons on each square.
B. Select 5 thumbprint critters or 5 smiley icons. Create the critters/icons on each square.
C. Select 6 thumbprint critters or 6 smiley icons. Create the critters/icons on each square.
PUZZLE WITHIN A PUZZLE
These are the critters I chose for my puzzle. What do the following have in common?
A. cat – fish – guinea pig – horse – puppy – turtle
B. bug – bumble bee – butterfly – daddy long legs – ladybug
C. kitten – lion – mouse – otter – rabbit – seal
SOLVE THE PUZZLE
Arrange the cubes in a row so that all four colors (Blank+A+B+C) appear on each of the row’s four sides.
SOLUTION … pets / invertebrates / whiskers
An alternative to using wooden cubes is using maze puzzle cubes. The side to best view the puzzle is left blank. Use small squares of colored construction paper to draw/paste on appropriate squares (A B C).
