MARYLAND
Visited August 2021 with Carol and her sister. In Maryland, the horses are free to roam. We saw several horses grazing in the marshes alongside the road. Returned sometime later with Len, when we had a close encounter with quite a few of the famous Assateague Island ponies. We stayed quite a while just enjoying watching them saunter around the area. Returning to the vehicle, one walked beside so close it could have put its head in the window if open. An amazing experience!
VIRGINIA
Carol, her sister, and I walked the trail to see the horses. In Virginia, the horses are managed and can be seen at the observation deck at the end of the trail.
