Visited August 2021 with Carol and her sister. They began exploring as soon as we arrived at the beach. I began looking for a place where you could walk in a line between water and dune for an earthcache. Both were quite a ways away when I completed my observations at water’s edge and arrived at the dune 120′ away. Uh Oh, my years are not kind to getting on the ground and then back up with no assist in sight. Sent a quick prayer heavenward to help me with the challenge I faced. I looked to my left and there was a hole the exact size and depth I needed without having to get on the ground and dig it. My heart was filled with wonder not only for the hole by my side, but to have chosen that dune to make my observations. As I was covering the hole, my heart smiled at the miracle on the beach.
Returned a few weeks later with Len. Ventured a little beyond ankle depth with balance support from him. The moving waves and shifting sand beneath my feet felt like a vertigo-type sensation causing me to periodically look toward the beach to regain my balance. Another amazing experience on Assateague Island.
the water was so beautiful and the waves were relaxing to say it was quite an
adventure of a lifetime
