KINSHIP / THE GIFT

There is a beautiful oak tree living beside my home. Unfortunately, some branches are overhanging the roof and have to be removed. The information was conflicting regarding the health of the tree, with some experts saying it was dying and should be cut down, while others said it was relatively healthy.

I was conflicted knowing the tree is a living being. Last year the tree was in full bloom with bushels of leaves needing raking in the autumn. So, I simply asked the tree to help me with the decision I faced. If it was ok to remove him from the place beside my home, to please withdraw his energy. I also related how all of it was going to be used … a friend is going to make a mantle to add beauty to his home, some are going to be used to enjoy the warmth of a fire, the branches are going to be used to make Give-aways, and the Great Wind is going to be carved within its trunk.

After only a few days, the leaves were all withered. Thank you so very much for giving me your answer so clearly conveyed.

Medicine Wheel of Trees by Grandmother Twylah
My Loving Tree is Willow
The Willow heightens one’s spirit of joy, comfort, compassion, and peace.
They breathe-in the unity of spirit that brings back honor to Mother Earth.
Sitting under a Willow Tree feels like a hug from Earth Mother.

In the backyard grew a beautiful willow tree with branches reaching heavenward, and leaves bowing to touch the earth.
Not too many moons ago, a fierce storm visited and toppled the willow. However, she chose to fall away from the house, her trunk stretching far into the yard.
How amazing to watch as new shoots grew from the trunk as time marched on. Now, instead of one trunk, there are many growing from her outstretched body. Each has branches reaching heavenward, and leaves bowing to touch the earth.
