Remember the good old days when we were growing up? This never would have happened. We were raised with manners and respect. The young men would have immediately gotten up and given their seats to those standing. But in those bygone days, we went out to play with the neighborhood children, and were not glued to the then non-existent technology. Progress?!
And we came in when the street lights came on without being told.
I miss alot of the (good old days) life has changed in so many ways. I miss the kindness, respect, love and joy that was put into simple life.
I’m going to be uncharacteristically optimistic here. I see a lot better manners now from younger people than I did 15-20 years ago.
Maybe it’s the area in which I live. “Cultures” where acting like a thug is seen as a social virtue are going to stigmatize any public display of kindness or consideration. Nice = weak.
Last point: (Hooray!): the “victims” in this picture are all women. Frankly, women contributed to this problem. I remember when the “feminist” movement encouraged women to react with hostility to small polite acts like holding a door open. (“How dare you imply that I’m weak and incapable of opening a door! You paternalistic beast!”) I think/ hope that this is fading, but for many years, decent men were actually afraid to show what should be common courtesy.
