ORANGE – SISTER WATER

“Grandmother, why do we call the water Sister?
Why is orange her color of the rainbow?”

“To answer your question, my child, let’s first look at the color orange. What does Grandfather say about the color orange?”

“He says the color orange is the color of dreams written in each sunrise and sunset.”

“It is water in the atmosphere that affects the color of sunrises and sunsets. As sunlight passes through more of the atmosphere, the shorter wavelengths are scattered away, leaving the longer wavelengths (red, orange, and yellow) to reach our eyes, creating the vibrant colors of sunrise and sunset.”

“The fiery passion of red leads us to create our dreams and goals. The yellow illuminates the pathway to fulfillment of those dreams. And so it is that red combined with yellow becomes one in the color orange.”
