YELLOW – GRANDFATHER SUN
“Grandmother, why do we call the sun Grandfather?
Why is yellow his color of the rainbow?”
“The sun holds all the colors of the rainbow within his heart, so he is actually white. However. when his rays pass through Earth Mother’s atmosphere, some of the colors are scattered, with our eyes perceiving the color yellow due also to the immense brightness.

“Due to this brightness, we cannot look directly at him. This teaches us to see not only with our eyes (outer world), but also with our hearts (inner world). Exploring our outer world offers us a myriad of experiences leading to personal growth. Exploring our inner world offers us a myriad of experiences leading towards enlightenment.”
“When the sun rises in the east, the earth awakens to a new day with all the opportunities it brings. On the medicine wheel, yellow is the color of the east.”
“Tell me about visits to your grandpa.”
“He always tells me great stories, and helps me with whatever I ask.”
“Grandfathers are a mentor sharing vast knowledge and wisdom born from their years of experience. They are wonderful storytellers, keepers of family history.”
“Grandfather Sun enfolds Mother Earth with his warmth and light. Grandfather enfolds each of his family members with his love and wisdom. Both Grandfathers give illumination, represented by the color yellow. Grandmother gave a hug, then replied … and so it is my child, the reason that yellow is Grandfather Sun’s color of the rainbow.”
